The Position

The Process Engineer position will support the site to onboard new API manufacturing programs. The role is expected to be a key technical resource supporting new chemical API process implementation.

Relationships

Reports to Manager.

Essential Functions

• Independently lead or support assigned engineering projects from concept design through start-up
• Responsible for providing input on capital projects throughout all phases, including development of user requirements, process design, equipment and instrumentation specification/selection, procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification, and handover
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and research for activities like new molecule transfer, scale-up, process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
• Support EHS activities including chemical and hazardous assessments, participation in PHAs and PSSRs
• Develop and review engineering documentation, standards, SOPs, protocols, risk assessments, and reports
• Develop, evaluate, and implement cost-effective engineering solutions for equipment, facilities, and utilities
• Support process and automation system designs
• Promote a culture of safe and compliant design and operation
• Follow safety and environmental requirements
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds, operates manufacturing equipment, works on feet for up to 12 hours, may require work at heights, in cold environments, or in loud noise, and may involve working with hazardous materials and confined spaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Chemistry from an accredited university
• Minimum of 8 years relevant experience, preferably in pharmaceutical manufacturing
• Experience with capital engineering projects and pharmaceutical process operations preferred
• Knowledge of process utility systems and GMPs is preferred
• Experience with commissioning and validation activities is a plus
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams
• Ability to manage external vendors and lead multiple projects
