Job summary

Best Buy Dublin, GA is seeking a Senior Process Engineer in Supply Chain to develop, implement, and maintain engineered labor standards for distribution center operations. You will observe DC workflows, perform time studies, document SOPs, and communicate findings to leadership.

You will train DC staff, maintain layouts in AutoCAD and WMS, and use data models to forecast capacity and drive improvements. This role requires on-site work with about 50% travel to DCs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or any Quantitative Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
  • 4+ years in external Supply Chain engineering roles involving process improvement, layout optimization, and/or engineered labor standards
  • 2+ years of experience working with engineered labor standards and time study methods.
  • Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma concepts and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Engineered Labor Standards: perform time studies, analyze results, and troubleshoot; summarize findings for leadership.
  • Educate & coach DC Operations on engineered labor standards and incentives and accountability impacts.
  • Tools & Software: maintain DC layouts including XYZ coordinates via AutoCAD and WMS; manage data via StandardsPro or other software.
  • Capacity Planning: model facility capacity and forecast changes; provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Continuous Improvement: observe and improve warehouse processes to enhance throughput and reduce costs.
  • Reporting: use SCI, Red Prairie, and Power BI dashboards to identify opportunities in direct labor performance and utilization.

As a Senior Process Engineer with the Supply Chain team, you will develop, implement, and maintain fair, reasonable, and attainable engineered labor standards across Distribution Center operations. They observe DC workflows to define optimal processes and preferred methods, then document via clear and effective SOPs. Senior Engineers conduct time studies to measure and validate direct labor functions, analyze data, and communicate findings and process recommendations to Operations leadership. In support of incentive and accountability programs, they evaluate labor reporting and employee performance to ensure accurate and consistent standards application. Senior Engineers educate DC Operations teams to promote understanding, alignment, and sustained adoption of labor standards. They collaborate closely with DC Operations and cross-functional partners to identify improvement opportunities, develop operational strategies, and resolve process and/or training gaps. Additionally, they assess DC capacity requirements and constraints and, when needed, provide innovative, data-driven network optimization recommendations. Approximately 50% travel required to DCs. This role is on site, which means you would be required to work on site at the Best Buy location listed on the job posting. What you’ll do
  • Engineered Labor Standards: Ensure a fair and reasonable labor standard by performing time studies, analyzing results, and troubleshooting, when necessary. Summarize findings to Corp and DC leadership, provide process gaps and insights, and recommendations to solve.
  • Educate & Coach: Train DC Operations “what is” and “how to leverage” engineered labor standards, including methods observations, providing feedback, incentive and accountability impacts, etc.
  • Tools & Software: Maintain accuracy of DC layouts including XYZ coordinates via AutoCAD and WMS. Maintenance of ELS flowcharts and standard data via StandardsPro or other software solution. Time studies, work samples, and data captured via UMT plus.
  • Capacity Planning: Analyze DC network capacity needs and provide recommendations collaborating with DC Operations teams. Utilize data-driven approaches to model facility operations, forecast capacity, and simulate process changes to provide innovative solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Observe and improve warehouse processes and workflows to enhance throughput, reduce costs, and improve service levels. Provide recommendations to create or improve operational policies, procedures or systems.
  • Reporting: Utilize reporting such as SCI, Red Prairie, and Power BI Dashboards to identify opportunities in direct labor performance and utilization. Work cross-functionally to improve DC Operations metrics.
Basic qualifications

  • 4+ years in external Supply Chain engineering roles involving process improvement, layout optimization, and/or engineered labor standards

Preferred qualifications
  • 5+ years in external Supply Chain engineering roles involving process improvement, layout optimization, and/or engineered labor standards
  • Advanced analytics tools such as Excel, SQL, etc.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, LMS/WMS, SQL, Time study software such as UMT Plus, StandardsPro, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Proven track record developing and/or maintaining engineered labor standards with extensive experience conducting time studies in a distribution environment.
  • Experience with warehouse automation (e.g., conveyors, AS/RS, robotics)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines
