Job summary

Evonik is seeking a Senior Process Engineer in Lafayette, IN, to drive process optimization, scale-up of new technologies, and excellence in safety and sustainability. You will lead cross-functional projects, mentor teammates, and ensure high equipment availability while delivering cost-effective solutions.

You will work closely with customers and internal teams to implement improvements, leveraging expertise across mixing, heat and mass transfer, filtration, and drying.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 10 years of chemical or pharmaceutical engineering manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience in multiple production facilities with different scales and technology platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on process engineering support for established operations by analyzing performance data and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead design, implementation, and optimization of new processes, including scale-ups and technology introductions.
• Manage and uphold Environment, Safety, Health, and Sustainability (ESHS) standards while ensuring product quality and high equipment availability.
• Apply deep knowledge in core engineering disciplines to troubleshoot issues and support complex manufacturing systems.
• Analyze site capacity constraints, identify bottlenecks, and lead projects to streamline workflows and maximize throughput.
• Recommend and support capital investments; act as project lead to implement improvements successfully.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business needs.
• Review engineering documentation, develop procedures, and mentor team members to ensure consistent execution.
