Job summary
SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Process Engineer for Starship Materials Production in Hawthorne, CA. You will own equipment from design to ramp, covering powder handling, mixers, and liquid dispensing.
The role emphasizes automation, DOE/ SPC, and close collaboration with materials, quality, and design teams to meet flight-quality requirements. You will travel for FATs/SATs, drive design improvements, and support NPIs and scale-up from pilot to high-rate production while adhering to safety and EHS
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and 5+ years of hands-on process/packaging equipment experience.
- Experience with powder handling/dispensing, mixers, liquid dispensing, or similar production equipment.
Responsibilities
- Design, procure, install and commission powder handling and dispensing systems for paints, adhesives, ablatives, and related materials.
- Own powder equipment including hoppers, feeders, weigh/batch systems and dust collection.
- Lead capital equipment projects from design through FAT/SAT and ramp.
- Automate production cells with sensors, recipe control, and PLC/HMI/SCADA integration.
- Develop tooling and fixtures for automated manufacturing and ensure manufacturability.
