Job summary

Nexuse Group in Maumee, Ohio, is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to lead the basic process design of projects. You’ll collaborate closely with project teams, clients, and vendors to ensure successful project execution.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering, over 10 years of experience, and strong skills in process simulation. Expect a mix of office and site work, with travel required.

Qualifications

Job description

At Nexus Engineering Group, our Process Engineers turn client requirements into safe, buildable process designs — from first calculation to field startup. As a Senior Process Engineer, you’ll own the basic process design of unit operations and the deliverables that drive projects forward, working shoulder-to-shoulder with project teams, vendors, and clients to get it right.

Responsibilities

• Develop the documented design basis, process descriptions, BFDs, PFDs, P&IDs, and material selection diagrams that define each project.
• Build process simulation models in Aspen HYSYS and develop heat and material balances.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and produce equipment sizing data sheets for compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, columns, separators, reactors, and more.
• Design and size safety relief devices that protect personnel, equipment, and the process.
• Interface directly with clients and provide field support throughout project execution.
• Deliver work that meets quality standards and applicable codes — on schedule and within budgeted hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of experience in the oil & gas or chemical industries.
• Hands‑on experience designing process equipment (vessels, pumps, exchangers, fired heaters, compressors).
• Process simulation experience with Aspen HYSYS and hydraulic analysis tools (e.g., AFT Fathom/Arrow, Visual Flare).
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to work in teams and present a positive image to clients.
• Detail‑oriented with a commitment to quality and timely delivery.
• EIT certification.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Periodic travel for client and project site visits as required.
• Work performed in a combination of office and active project‑site environments; field assignments may involve walking, stooping, kneeling, and climbing stairs and ladders.
• PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hi‑vis vest, steel‑toed boots) provided and required on site.
