Job summary

Nexuse Group is seeking an experienced professional in Cleveland, Ohio to develop documented design basis, process descriptions, and process simulation models in Aspen HYSYS. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years in the oil & gas or chemical industries, with a strong focus on safety relief device design.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Develop documented design basis, process descriptions, BFDs, PFDs, P&IDs, and material selection diagrams that define each project.
  • Build process simulation models in Aspen HYSYS and develop heat and material balances.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and produce equipment sizing data sheets for compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, columns, separators, reactors, and more.
  • Design and size safety relief devices that protect personnel, equipment, and the process.
  • Interface directly with clients and provide field support throughout project execution.
  • Deliver work that meets quality standards and applicable codes – on schedule and within budgeted hours.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 10+ years of experience in the oil & gas or chemical industries.
  • Hands‑on experience designing process equipment (vessels, pumps, exchangers, fired heaters, compressors).
  • Process simulation experience with Aspen HYSYS and hydraulic analysis tools (e.g., AFT Fathom/Arrow, Visual Flare).
  • Experience with PSV sizing and safety relief device design, with a strong understanding of underlying process fundamentals and relief system behavior.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to work in teams and present a positive image to clients.
  • Detail‑oriented with a commitment to quality and timely delivery.
  • EIT certification.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • Periodic travel for client and project site visits as required.
  • Work performed in a combination of office and active project‑site environments; field assignments may involve walking, stooping, kneeling, and climbing stairs and ladders.
  • PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hi-vis vest, steel‑toed boots) provided and required on site.
