Job summary

Union Technologies, headquartered in Dallas, TX, is reindustrializing America’s defense manufacturing base and seeking a Process Engineer to develop robust processes for defense-grade steel forgings on the shop floor.

You will conduct first article inspections (FAI), validate processes, and apply CpK/PPK analysis, SPC, and Lean/Six Sigma to drive continuous improvements in a high-velocity manufacturing environment in Dallas.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant engineering field.
  • 3-5+ years in process engineering; defense/aerospace/manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with first article inspections (FAI) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and qualify robust industrial processes for defense-grade steel forgings, ensuring first article compliance with defense standards.
  • Perform first article inspections (FAI) and process validations to deliver battle-ready products.
  • Use CpK/PPK analysis and SPC tools to ensure process capability and stability.
  • Apply SPC and stats tools (Minitab, Excel, R-Shiny) to maintain tight process control.
  • Leverage expertise in metal processing, including heat treating and chemical coatings, to meet defense specifications.
  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize processes and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Partner with operations, quality, safety and engineering teams on improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and qualify robust industrial processes for defense-grade steel forgings, ensuring first article compliance with defense standards.
  • Perform first article inspections (FAI) and process validations to deliver battle‑ready products.
  • Use CpK/PpK statistical analysis and tools (8D, 5-Why) to ensure process capability and stability.
  • Apply SPC and stats tools (Minitab, Excel, R-Shiny) to maintain tight process control.
  • Leverage expertise in metal processing, including heat treating and chemical coatings, to meet defense specifications.
  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize processes and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Partner with operations, quality, safety and engineering teams on short‑term and long‑term improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications
  • US Person – Must be a US Citizen or green card holder.
  • Education: Bachelor’s in Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience: 3-5+ years in process engineering; working in processes for defense, aerospace, or complex manufacturing/assembly; experience with first article inspections is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: CpK/PPK analysis, SPC, RCCA tools (8D, 5-Why), JMP and Python.
  • Work Style: Hands‑on, on the floor problem solving, team support.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communicator; proactive problem‑solver, willing to learn and grow.
  • Physical Requirements: Stand, walk, lift 50 lbs in a gritty shop with heat and noise.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Defense standards knowledge (MIL-STD, ITAR).
  • Expertise in metal processing, including heat treating and chemical coatings for ferrous, non‑ferrous, and super alloys.
  • Experience with non‑destructive testing (NDT) methods (ultrasonic, dye penetrant) for process validation.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or ASQ Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE).
Work Environment

You’ll fight on the shop floor in Dallas, with occasional office time and travel for process validations or customer ops.

Compensation Range

$90K - $130K
