Job summary

Union Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support multiple cells, monitor processes, and contribute to continuous improvement. This hands‑on role emphasizes GD&T, tooling selection, and cross‑functional collaboration in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering background, 3+ years in manufacturing, and experience with GD&T and ISO9001/AS9100. Join a growing team focused on delivering high‑quality components with attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent field.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ISO9001/AS9100.
  • Experience in process drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing methods and process drawings using GD&T and standard work instructions.
  • Maintain revision control for manufacturing process drawings.
  • Review drawings for GD&T accuracy and compliance.
  • Read engineering drawings and customer requirements; apply flow-down requirements.
  • Support tooling, fixturing, and gauging selection for manufacturing processes.
  • Investigate root causes using 8D and 5 Why methods and assist in corrective actions.
  • Provide technical disposition of non-conformances and data-driven recommendations.
  • Assist in engineering calculations to assess feasibility for quotes.

Job Description: Manufacturing Engineer

As a Manufacturing Engineer your primary responsibility will be to support one or more manufacturing cells and assist with managing that cell’s manufacturing process from beginning to end. Taking a hands‑on approach, a successful Manufacturing Engineer will monitor production and testing, assist in troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and support continuous improvement efforts throughout the process.

Responsibilities
  • Develop manufacturing methods and process drawings using standard GD&T practices and technical work instructions
  • MUST have metal working experience
  • Maintain revision control and revision changes for manufacturing process drawings
  • Review manufacturing drawings for correct GD&T and accuracy
  • Ability to read and understand technical engineering drawings, specifications, and customer flow down requirements
  • Support the research, design, and selection of tooling, fixturing, and gauging to be used in the manufacturing process
  • Assist in investigating and determining root cause using 8D and 5 why methods
  • Support technical disposition of non-conformances
  • Interpret inspection data during development phases and provide support and recommendations
  • Support commercial quote activity by assessing technical feasibility and providing engineering calculations
  • Provide additional support to the engineering department as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills And Preferred Knowledge
  • Knowledge of metals
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing including Magnetic Particle, Pressure Testing, and Dye Penetrant
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Testing including Tensile Test, Hardness Test, Ultrasonic Test, Magnetic Particle Test
  • Having a hands‑on approach with assembly of designs and fixturing
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Ability to use basic inspection tools such as micrometers, caliper, and dial indicators
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, organizational and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask with a focus on time management to meet schedules
  • A high attention to detail with a mechanical aptitude
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project)
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent field
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ISO9001/AS9100
  • Experience in process drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards

  • Able to work flexible hours – including over‑time, and weekends to meet customer demands
