Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Pharmaceutical Process Development Scientist for a hybrid role in Upington, Northern Cape. You will optimize and scale up manufacturing processes for APIs and drug products, collaborating with formulation, analytical, and manufacturing teams to translate lab methods into robust production.

The role requires a PhD in Chemical Engineering or Pharmaceutical Sciences with 5+ years in process development, strong GMP knowledge, and experience in process validation,

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical process development and scale-up.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, process validation, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to lead projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale-up manufacturing processes for APIs and drug products.
• Design and execute experiments to understand process parameters and CQAs.
• Conduct process hazard analyses and ensure safety of operations.
• Develop process validation strategies and protocols.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement CAPAs.
• Collaborate with analytical development to establish in-process controls and specs.
• Author process development reports and contribute to regulatory filings (IND, NDA).
• Evaluate and implement new process technologies and equipment.
• Ensure GMP, safety, and environmental compliance.
