Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Development Engineer for a renowned specialty chemicals manufacturer in Welkom, Free State. The role focuses on scaling up new chemical processes from lab to pilot and production, improving existing methods and ensuring safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

You will lead pilot plant trials, develop PFDs and P&IDs, perform simulations, and collaborate with R&D, Production, and QA.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Chemical Engineering is required.
• 7+ years in process development, scale-up and optimization in chemical industry.
• Experience in pilot plant operations and troubleshooting is essential.
• Knowledge of reaction kinetics, mass transfer, and thermodynamics.
• Proficiency with process simulations (Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD) and statistics.
• Familiarity with process safety and HAZOP studies.

Responsabilités

• Lead development and optimization of chemical processes for new and existing products.
• Conduct pilot plant trials, analyze data and troubleshoot scale-up challenges.
• Develop PFDs and P&IDs for process systems.
• Perform process simulations and modeling to predict performance.
• Ensure safety, operability, and cost-effectiveness in processes.
• Collaborate with R&D, Production, and QA teams.
• Prepare and review technical reports, process descriptions, and SOPs.
• Recommend new equipment and technologies for process enhancement.
• Support commissioning and start-up of new processes.
