Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals LLC is seeking a Process Development Engineering Senior Scientific Associate in Boston, MA, to support bench-scale and high-throughput bioreactor studies, including ambr250 platforms and perfusion systems. You will execute setup, media exchange, sampling, harvests, and data handling with aseptic techniques.

The role requires hands-on experience in mammalian and stem cell culture, automated and semi-automated workflows, and collaboration with process development,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience or a Master’s with 0-2 years of experience; equivalent combination accepted.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic laboratory practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and document process-development studies using bench-scale and high-throughput bioreactors.
• Perform mammalian and stem cell culture supporting process development.
• Operate equipment including bioreactors, perfusion systems, and liquid-handling devices; collect samples.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and workflows to ensure data integrity.
• Prepare study documentation and contribute to technical reports and protocols.
