Job summary

ExxonMobil is seeking a Senior Process Control Application Engineer for our Joliet, IL location. You will develop, deploy and support basic process control systems, mentor junior engineers and lead technical initiatives across refining and petrochemical operations.

The role requires 10+ years in petrochemical processing, strong leadership, and collaboration with operating teams. Expect on‑call 24/7 support and flexible workplace programs where available.

Qualifications

• BS Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree.
• Relevant work experience in a manufacturing/operating plant environment.
• Knowledge of refining/chemical processes with 10+ years in petrochemical industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop and provide support for basic process control applications using engineering skills.
• Demonstrate technical leadership and solve complex problems.
• Implement and sustain base and advanced controls including model predictive control.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and lead teams in technical challenges.
• Provide process control support during project development, installation and startup.
