Job summary

Hilmar Cheese Company is seeking a Senior Design Project Engineer to oversee capital projects aligned with the Strategic Asset Management Plan and PMO. You will lead design engineering and act as a technical project manager to deliver value through multi-project execution.

The role requires coordinating across mechanical, process, automation, and electrical teams, managing budgets, schedules, and risk while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5 years' related experience or Master's degree with 3 years' related experience.
• Demonstrates integrity in relationships and decision-making; self-starter who builds strong relationships and collaborates well.
• Strong communication skills to clearly convey complex technical and business concepts.
• Applies engineering principles, judgement, and reasoning in technical decision making.

Responsibilities

• Manage large scale projects end to end with internal and external resources.
• Budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and cost control for 4-5 projects at a time; up to $20 million total investments.
• Mentor and develop less experienced engineers with technical guidance.
• Oversee design, optimization, and regulatory compliance across projects.
