Job summary

Merck is seeking a Senior Specialist in Process Automation to lead a small engineering team at the West Point site within Digital Manufacturing Operations. You will provide automation system expertise to ensure compliant, reliable vaccine manufacturing and global supply.

Responsibilities include guiding SDLC-aligned projects, collaborating across functions, supporting shop-floor activities, and driving continuous improvement of DeltaV DCS, PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, with 10% travel.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• 7+ years in process automation, IT/OT, or equivalent.
• Technical and operational expertise in DeltaV DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, CSV, and SDLC.
• Strong technical writing capabilities.
• Knowledge of S88 Batch Standard and regulatory GxP requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers for process automation support at the West Point vaccine facility.
• Prioritize workload, ensure SDLC, GMP, safety and environmental compliance.
• Collaborate with IPT and other functions as automation SME.
• Support manufacturing on the shop floor and implement process control improvements.
• Troubleshoot automation issues and participate in deviation investigations.
• Maintain automation systems to be inspection-ready and support audits/inspections.
