Job summary

Vectaur Inc. is seeking a Sr. Process Automation and Controls Engineer in Houston, TX. The role involves leading multi-discipline automation projects, interfacing with partners, and driving engineering through design, FAT/SAT, and handover to operations.

You will program PLC and DCS platforms, develop control narratives and P&ID interfaces, and support budgets and proposals. Travel to field sites is required as project phases demand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation, Computer Systems, Chemical).
• 10-12+ years’ experience leading control systems projects and managing a team.
• Programming and configuring PLC and DCS platforms; preference for Rockwell, Honeywell and/or Triconex.
• Experience in full lifecycle automation development from planning to operations.
• Experience in sectors such as Mining, LNG, petrochemical, oil and gas, or nuclear industries.
• Front end engineering experience developing project scope, control system philosophy, and P&ID development.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with offices to share work and integrate staff on projects.
• Coordinate interfaces with engineering partners, contractors, equipment manufacturers, system integrators, and other disciplines.
• Assist, then lead, preparation of proposals, execution plans and budgets.
• Work through all engineering phases from concept to detailed design; provide field support, FAT and SAT, installation qualifications and handover to operations.
• Program and configure PLC and DCS platforms while leading a project team.
• Produce deliverables like control narratives, cause-and-effect drawings, IO lists, wiring diagrams, and system architecture.
• Engage in complex automation projects including field work, FAT/SAT processing and commissioning.
• Own project success in terms of quality, cost management, and customer satisfaction.
• Build knowledge base to drive productivity and growth; work across multicultural teams.
• Travel up to 25-50% depending on project phase.
