The Missouri Department of Corrections is hiring for a Probation and Parole Assistant or Correctional Officer. This position serves as a lead worker, supervising staff and offenders, conducting counts, and ensuring housing unit safety and security.

Qualifications

• One or more years of experience as a Probation and Parole Assistant or Correctional Officer with the Missouri Department of Corrections; AND possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency, AND a valid vehicle operator's license
• Three or more years of work experience; AND possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency, AND a valid vehicle operator's license
• Earned credit hours substituting for experience: 30 earned credit hours = 1 year

Responsibilities

• Serves as lead worker of the facility; assigns/trains/evaluates staff supervising offenders in housing units and related activities.
• Participates in counts of offenders; inspects housing units for safety; prepares reports; maintains records of offender violations and background information.
• Retrieves information from NCIC/MULES and other databases; responds to warrants; participates in offender classification and supervision; provides after-hours assistance.
• Ensures offenders have parole orders; monitors electronic monitoring; handles emergency calls; assists in program assignments; logs data in Booking and Tracking System.
• Assists Probation and Parole Officers with court hearings and home visits; provides information to staff and law enforcement regarding location and apprehension of offenders.
