Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections - Corrections Services in Baton Rouge seeks an experienced officer to supervise and investigate adult offenders on probation, parole, work releases, or related programs. Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a probation or parole officer, or in counseling, psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or administrative services plus one of the following.
• OR: One year of experience as a probation or parole officer, or in counseling, psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or administrative services plus a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, education, business administration, public administration, or a criminal justice field.

Responsibilities

• Conducts investigations of persons who represent a high degree of concern for public safety and welfare of the community, including offenders with a verified history of violent behavior or who represent the greatest degree of danger to the community, as well as providing intensive supervision to high profile cases such as those involving sex offenders, organized gang members, contagious offenders (e.g. HIV and Hepatitis B).
• Ensures sex offender compliance with sex offender laws and requirements. Administer drug tests by obtaining urine samples and evaluating results. Coordinates and supervises community service work performed by parolees.
