Job summary

Circuit Court of Cook County is seeking a Deputy Chief Probation Officer to lead a major operational area within the Juvenile Probation and Court Services Department. The role oversees staff, ensures high-quality probation practices, and aligns programs with department priorities.

The DCPO will drive performance, oversee supervision, and foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across divisions and partners, reporting to senior management.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in management/public administration/criminal justice/social services; 3+ years probation/court services, 2+ supervisory years.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years probation/court services experience, 3+ supervisory years.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for programs, units, and operations.
• Establish goals, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with department priorities.
• Supervise, coach, and develop Probation Supervisors and staff; manage staffing and workload.
• Ensure services meet standards of quality, equity, and evidence-based practice.
• Communicate department priorities and collaborate with judges, partners, and stakeholders.
• Oversee resource allocation, budgeting, and workforce management.
• Lead risk management, crisis response, and incident follow-up.
