Qualifications

• General knowledge of criminal justice and/or other human services field.
• General knowledge of case management and counseling techniques.
• Sound written and verbal communication skills; excellent time management and documentation skills.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of probationers, co-workers and community-based professionals to accomplish collaborative and individual responsibilities.
• Must be a team player, have leadership skills, and a positive attitude/demeanor.
• Valid operator's license.
• Considerable experience in the following: Individual counseling/casework with adults; adult correctional institutional work (especially in treatment services), or juvenile probation and aftercare work; administrative and management; writing/presentence reports to official or administrative entities; interviewing people; planning and directing projects; and teaching.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision to probationers who require intensive and regular probation/parole/post-release supervision.
• Assess the criminogenic and treatment needs of the client; apply evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with probationer, district, and community resources to develop and manage individualized treatment plans.
• Make home and community contacts in accord with case needs and supervision plans; prepare Pre-sentence Investigations, sentencing guidelines, and other reports as assigned in a timely manner; testify and provide sentencing recommendations to the court/attorney.
• Emphasis on coaching and mentoring of all line probation officers, covering vacancies, OJT for new staff, and review of all presentence reports for the district.
