Job summary

Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, LLP in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Probate & Trust Administration Paralegal to join its office and support a busy trusts and estates practice. The ideal candidate will bring sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to independently manage complex estate and trust administration matters, with emphasis on probate administration.

Substantial hands-on experience with probate proceedings across MD, DC, and VA is required.

Qualifications

9+ years of experience managing probate and estate administration.
Direct, substantial experience with probate procedures and filing requirements in MD, DC, and VA.
Strong organizational, analytical, proofreading, and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines independently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

Manage estate and trust administration, including primary and ancillary probate proceedings across MD, DC, and VA.
Independently open primary probate administrations across MD, DC, and VA.
Independently prepare and file probate petitions, inventories, fiduciary accountings, and related court documents.
Independently prepare and file federal and state fiduciary income tax returns, including Form 1041.
Prepare and record deeds and handle LLC formation and related filings in MD, DC, and VA.
