Job summary

Confidential Private Equity firm in San Diego seeks a Senior Controller to own fund accounting and financial reporting, reporting directly to the CFO. This hands-on role sits in a lean environment with direct executive exposure and a path to a permanent senior seat.

The engagement lasts 6–12 months with a strong possibility of conversion as the firm scales its finance function. On-site work in San Diego is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive fund accounting / controllership experience in private equity or related investments.
• Strong GAAP knowledge for investment entities; CPA preferred.
• Experience as Fund Controller/Senior Fund Accountant or Senior Manager in Big 4 Investment Management.

Responsibilities

• Fund accounting & reporting — quarterly/annual fund closes, financial statements, capital calls & distributions.
• Manage fund waterfall calculations and LP reporting.
• Oversee third-party fund administrator deliverables and outsourced accounting relationships.
• Coordinate fund audits — timelines and auditor responses across multiple vehicles.
• Lead management company month-end close, internal controls, and expense allocations.
• Forecast cash, prepare capital call notices, and provide treasury support.
• Collaborate with CFO on process improvements and finance infrastructure.
