Senior Principal Thermal Engineer - Data Center

Join to apply for the Senior Principal Thermal Engineer - Data Center role at Oracle.

Job Description: As a Senior Principal Thermal Engineer, you will focus on aligning OCI thermal hardware design with data center physical infrastructure. You will work cross-functionally with Mechanical, Electrical, Thermal, and Software disciplines to develop optimized thermal solutions for the entire stack and manage high-performance data centers. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver next-generation world-class hardware and data centers.

Location: United States-based; remote work with some travel. Full-time with benefits.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement CFD technologies to improve OCI platform and data center performance.
  2. Serve as a technical lead and domain expert in data center mechanical systems and thermal management.
  3. Apply engineering cooling methodologies for data center designs.
  4. Use CFD and flow network modeling to create digital twin models from chip to heat rejection solutions.
  5. Design experiments to validate CFD models against test results and telemetry data.
  6. Collaborate on reliability studies, debugging, and issue resolution.
  7. Engage with CFD software vendors to meet OCI's cooling requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 9+ years experience in cloud-scale or related engineering, with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Thermal, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering, or
  • 6+ years with a Master's degree, or
  • 5+ years with a Doctorate.
  • Deep understanding of data center design and CFD analysis proficiency.
  • Experience with direct-to-chip liquid cooling technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with digital twins, machine learning, data visualization, and thermal design of compute architecture.
Additional Information

Competitive salary range: $120,100 - $251,600/year, with benefits including health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and more.
