Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an experienced Principal/Senior Principal Systems Engineer to support a program from Linthicum, MD or Fairfax, VA. The role spans system engineering, integration, verification, and bridging hardware and software in an Agile environment.

Key responsibilities include requirements elicitation, ICD maintenance, use-case modeling, and cross-functional reviews with hardware, firmware, QA, and product management. Active TS/SCI clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience; 3 years with a Master's; 0 years with a PhD.
• 8+ years for Senior Principal role with a Master's; 4+ years with a PhD.
• Experience with ground systems engineering, systems integration or software engineering.
• Experience with requirements engineering, V&V and MBSE.
• Experience working with customers and subcontractors.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Experience creating interface description documents.
• Requires active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Elicit, analyze, and document system-level functional and non-functional requirements for the product line.
• Maintain a traceability matrix linking requirements to design, implementation, and verification artifacts.
• Conduct requirement reviews with cross-functional stakeholders (hardware, firmware, QA, product management).
• Define and maintain ICDs for all hardware-software and software-software interfaces.
• Create detailed use-case diagrams, activity flows, and sequence diagrams capturing user interactions and processes.
