Senior Principal Engineer- SDA

Scottsdale, AZ

Contract Position

$107.07-$112.07/Hour

Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the development, analysis, and integration of advanced systems and networks supporting mission-critical defense technologies, ensuring security and performance across multi-domain environments.
  2. Analyze and manage requirements, perform functional and performance analyses, and develop system designs, trade studies, and subsystem integrations.
  3. Conduct technical planning, cost/risk analyses, and supportability/effectiveness studies for systems and subsystems.
  4. Define and allocate system-level requirements to components and elements, ensuring compliance with customer and project specifications.
  5. Design, evaluate, and validate systems, networks, and information systems to meet security requirements, including technical security features such as access control and auditing.
  6. Prepare system accreditation/certification documentation and ensure compliance for both new and fielded systems.
  7. Develop and test system models and simulations to assess design feasibility and performance.
  8. Research and analyze vendor products, COTS components, and specifications to determine design feasibility and application.
  9. Lead the generation of technical engineering products throughout the system development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to processes and standards.
  10. Collaborate with internal working groups, Deputy Program Managers Engineering (DPMEs), and external partners to coordinate external interfaces and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  11. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, and hardware/software compatibility.
  12. Plan and execute project tasks, contributing to major programs and projects with innovative and creative problem-solving.
  13. Identify and resolve system design weaknesses while maintaining regular contact with senior internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Science, Engineering, or Mathematics and 10+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience.
  2. Clearance: Ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
  3. Domain Expertise: Multi-level security domain expertise, including cross-domain solutions.
  4. Technical Skills:
    1. Proficiency in system-level networking, including coordinating with Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE) WAN providers and detailed network design.
    2. Ability to decompose requirements into manageable components using an agile, lightweight approach while avoiding unnecessary complexity.
    3. Experience preparing system-level documentation and accreditation materials.
    4. Expertise in modeling, simulation, and technical data analysis.
  5. Preferred:
    1. Agile program experience and familiarity with tools and methodologies for iterative system development.
    2. Prior collaboration with stakeholders from Iridium, SDA, Northrup, York, and Lockheed.
    3. Strong understanding of scope management and the ability to manage complex system requirements.
