Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in the SDS Division seeks a Principal/Sr. Principal Product Support Systems Engineer to support the SLCM-N program in Huntsville, AL. Responsibilities span design, proposal development, and technology maturation for a naval missile system.

The role emphasizes architecture, manufacturability, risk assessment, and compliance with DoD requirements. A security clearance and ability to obtain SAP approval are required, with competitive salary and relocation

Qualifications

• BS in STEM with 5+ years related experience; or MS with 3+ years (Sr. Principal requires 8+ with BS; 6+ with MS)
• US Citizen with active Secret clearance, ability to obtain Top Secret
• Ability to obtain SAP approval within company timelines
• Experience with DoD weapon system support system conceptual and preliminary design
• Experience with ballistic missile, cruise missile, and/or weapon support system design

Responsibilities

• Provide technical contributions to the SLCM-N team during Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction (TMRR) phase
• Develop requirements for manufacturability and maintainability for flight vehicle; oversee avionics, propulsion, and airframe production
• Contribute to trade studies, architecture development, and system engineering for producibility and cost concerns
• Identify and track technology roadmap gaps to feed development and design processes
• Lead development of technical proposal volumes, including CONOPS, risk assessments, and baselining for TMRR
• Support compliant, compelling responses to RFP/RFS requirements
• Demonstrate ethics and integrity while innovating beyond standard methods
• Collaborate across division and suppliers to achieve goals
• Transition solutions for US deterrence programs to programs of record
