We are seeking either a Principal Software Engineer or a Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our talented team. This position is located in Redondo Beach, CA, and offers domestic and international travel opportunities.

The Ground Solutions and Mission Support (GSMS) Software (SW) Integrated Project Team (IPT) is a large restricted group executing across both Development and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) tasks. The SW Engineering IPT focuses on the development and sustainment of several mission operational SW product lines, as well as the development of new capabilities as coordinated with their restricted SCI Customer.

The SW IPT is a large team comprising of multiple subsystems, each with a specialized software focus. We are looking for an energetic and passionate software engineer to join our team as we work to provide innovative solutions to complex issues in support of our Customer’s national security mission in the areas of Ground Enterprise Modernization and Transition Discrepancy Reports (DRs).

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications:

1. Principal Software Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
2. Senior Principal Software Engineer: 8 Years with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
3. Active Top Secret clearance required at the time of application, and the ability to obtain SCI access prior to start date
4. Advanced Object-Oriented programming skills and proficiency with C++ programming
5. Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system

Preferred Qualifications:

1. DevSecOps Test Automation experience
2. Experience with programming/scripting languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Perl
3. Strong skills in math and algorithms
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with all levels of employees, management, and stakeholders
5. Previous participation on an Agile scrum team or familiarity with the Agile process
6. Familiarity with the Atlassian Tool Suite (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
7. Experience developing in a Linux environment using git
8. Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
9. Active TS/SCI security clearance

Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00 Salary Range 2: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
