Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Software Engineer for a hybrid role across multiple California locations, including Rancho Bernardo and El Segundo, with travel. You will translate LiDAR algorithms into high-performance GPU code, develop models, and work closely with hardware and software teams.

The role requires strong C++ skills, CUDA/OpenCL, MATLAB/Simulink, and LiDAR data processing, with a preference for advanced degrees in STEM and experience in sensor fusion

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 8+ years related experience; OR Master’s with 6+; OR PhD with 4+ years.
• Strong programming skills in C++, with CUDA or OpenCL experience.
• Experience with MATLAB and Simulink.
• Experience with LiDAR and point cloud data processing.
• Experience with centroid and pose estimation.
• Experience with sensor fusion for object identification and tracking.

Responsibilities

• Translate MATLAB LiDAR algorithms into high-performance GPU implementations using C++ and CUDA.
• Create LiDAR software model and test datasets for SIL testing.
• Create software documentation using UML.
• Work with LiDAR hardware in a lab environment.
• Communicate progress and results to a multidisciplinary team.
