Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Software Engineer for a hybrid role across Melbourne, FL, Rancho Bernardo, CA, or El Segundo, CA. The position reports to the R&AD organization Aerial Refueling System Lead.

Responsibilities include translating LiDAR algorithms to GPU code with C++/CUDA, developing LiDAR software models, documenting with UML, and collaborating with a diverse team in lab environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 8 years related experience; or a Master’s degree in STEM with 6 years; or a PhD in STEM with 4 years.
• Strong C++ programming skills.
• Experience with CUDA or OpenCL.
• MATLAB and Simulink experience.

Responsibilities

• Translate MATLAB LiDAR algorithms into high-performance GPU implementations using C++ and CUDA.
• Create LiDAR software model and test datasets for software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing.
• Create software documentation using UML.
• Work with LiDAR and related hardware in a laboratory environment.
• Communicate progress and results to a multidisciplinary team.
