Job summary

RTX's Collins Aerospace SDS team in Sterling, VA seeks a Senior Principal Software Engineer to design and develop software models for a Mission Crew Trainer device, focusing on high-fidelity simulation and modelling for NC3 mission-system integration and crew training.

You will work in an Agile environment, mentor engineers, manage risks, and deliver technical demonstrations to stakeholders, ensuring software maturity and readiness for mission-critical operations.

Qualifications

• Experience with full software lifecycle processes from requirements to testing.
• Strong C++ and Python development experience.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Typically requires STEM degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 7 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Senior Principal Software Engineer on a simulation team developing models for a Mission Crew Trainer.
• Provide technical execution for design, development, integration, test, & validation to meet requirements.
• Drive software efforts to maturity and mentor junior/mid-level engineers.
• Work in an Agile program, manage planning, backlog, and coordination within the team.
• Identify risks and dependencies, report status to leadership, and present technical demos.
• Collaborate across Software, Hardware, and Mechanical domains to enable integration.
