Job summary

Evotec is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead protein reagent programs from Princeton, NJ. You will act as scientific lead across multiple projects, design experimental strategies, and mentor the Protein Sciences team, driving technical excellence and innovation.

The role requires a PhD with 6+ years in drug discovery (or a Bachelor’s/Master’s with 8+ years), deep protein biochemistry expertise, and a track record of delivering high-quality science and customer-facing deliverables.

Qualifications

• PhD with at least 6 years of industry experience in drug discovery.
• Strong protein biochemistry knowledge and ability to design protein reagents.
• Experience leading protein reagent projects and building partnerships with key accounts.
• Proven problem-solving, high-quality science and stakeholder influence in drug projects.
• Understanding of the drug discovery process and potential publications

Responsibilities

• Serve as scientific lead for protein reagent support across early drug discovery programs.
• Design experimental strategies with stakeholders and ensure data quality prior to reagent release.
• Provide guidance on experimental design and technology selection to maximize project success.
• Mentor Protein Sciences team and foster technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Develop innovative experimental approaches and novel technologies to advance platform capabilities.
• Lead creation and improvement of standalone scientific services and customer deliverables.
• Contribute to customer engagement, including proposals, scoping, and evaluating new partnerships.
• Collaborate with Business Development to grow opportunities and client relationships.
• Represent Evotec at conferences and industry events to enhance visibility.
• Drive scientific excellence through publications and external collaborations.
• Act as a subject matter expert influencing strategy and best practices.
