Job summary
RTX’s RTRC group seeks a Senior Principal Scientist, Research to lead chemical vapor processing efforts across aerospace and defense programs. You will guide strategy, oversee CVD/CVI activities, and coordinate with business units to advance technology and funding opportunities.
The role requires a PhD in a STEM field with 7–10+ years of relevant experience, experience as a PI, and ability to drive projects from concept to transition into RTX products.
Qualifications
- Typically requires STEM degree and 10+ years of relevant experience unless an advanced degree is held with 7+ years.
- PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with focus on high-temperature composites and/or microelectronics.
- Principal investigator on multi-disciplinary projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver technical strategy with leadership.
- Collaborate with business units to develop chemical vapor process methods.
- Lead technical reviews to ensure excellence.
- Originate and patent new ideas and guide projects to transition.
- Support funding pursuits and secure BU funding to augment portfolio.
- Provide technical guidance and support root-cause investigations.
- Lead development and integration of chemical vapor processes into RTX products.
