Job summary

Via Transportation, Inc. in New York City is seeking a Principal Product Designer to shape the Transit Operations platform. You will lead design for complex workflows used by dispatchers and transit operators, turning business needs into clear, scalable experiences.

You’ll partner with Product, Engineering, and leadership to drive decisions, understand users deeply, and apply research to improve the product. Autonomy and a focus on craft guide your work and you’ll explore AI-enabled workflows.

• Extensive experience designing and shipping complex digital products and platforms.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and lead end-to-end product initiatives.
• High bar for craft with attention to interaction, hierarchy, and details.
• Strong communication and storytelling to align stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design for complex and strategic areas of Via’s Transit Operations product.
• Transform operational workflows and constraints into clear, intuitive experiences.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to frame problems and tradeoffs.
• Develop deep user understanding and align designs to user needs.
• Use research, data, and feedback to validate decisions and improve the product.
• Raise the quality bar and influence the broader design organization.
