Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a senior veterinary pathologist to assess early drug safety. The role involves evaluating anatomical and clinical pathology data, directing in vivo and in vitro studies and integrating findings into comprehensive safety assessments.

You will collaborate with toxicologists and pathologists in multidisciplinary teams to address regulatory questions and support development compounds, with a focus on pharmacology, toxicology and drug development.

Qualifications

• Requires a DVM or equivalent with ACVP board certification or equivalent.
• Strong background in pathology, pharmacology, toxicology and drug development.
• Extensive experience in pharmaceutical research and leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific expertise to cross‑functional teams on safety assessments.
• Design, direct and evaluate in vivo studies to assess toxicity across species.
• Integrate anatomy and clinical pathology data into comprehensive toxicology reports.
• Collaborate with toxicologists, pathologists and other functions to guide development compounds.
• Lead issue resolution and participate in due diligence associated with regulatory queries.
