Job description

Responsibilities

MaxLinear is seeking an experienced photonics/datacom transceiver engineer to join our team. In this role, you will join a world-class engineering team developing next generation fiber optic Ethernet transceiver DSP platforms for hyperscale data center applications.

• Technical leadership representing the systems function in the cross-functional development of next-generation DSP platforms
• Provide photonics component and module expertise into the IC design cycle
• Design and execute post silicon test plans at both electrical and optical platform levels to verify performance of next-generation DSP platforms
• Help design, calibrate, and test various transceiver reference designs and platforms
• Work with marketing to understand customer requirements and with internal engineering teams to translate them to product requirements and test plans
• Work with field and application engineering to understand customer issues during the qualification phase and lead internal debug and resolution efforts

Qualifications

• Solid experience leading technical execution from concept to volume production in the data-center optics industry
• Subject matter expertise in optical components, optical system design and characterization, optical transceiver design, high speed networking standards such as Ethernet, Infiniband, and PCIe, and PAM-4 analog and digital signal processing
• Experience calibrating and characterizing high speed datacom transceivers
• Customer facing experience a plus
• Self-motivated, effective communication skills, and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and project management skills
• BS in Electrical Engineering or related +11 years of experience, or MS +9 years of experience, or Ph.D. +6 years of experience

Compensation and Benefits

MaxLinear has a Total Compensation philosophy which includes base salary and annual discretionary bonus eligibility and many positions also include stock-based compensation.

MaxLinear expects to offer a starting base salary within the range of: $146,200 to $227,010 Annually.
