Job summary

Baxter is seeking a Sr. Principal Software Engineer- Software Architect (.NET) to translate requirements into software specifications and define the architecture for our .NET platform in Raleigh.

You will lead architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and drive API design while partnering with a fellow architect to deliver scalable solutions. The role requires 8+ years in production software with C#, .NET, and Azure, plus experience with Kubernetes, REST/GraphQL, and event-driven systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience delivering production software on the .NET platform.
• Expert proficiency in C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, and SQL Server.
• Experience designing scalable APIs and services using REST, GraphQL, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, OOD, design patterns, data modeling, and SDLC best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Azure, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, GitHub, containerization, and secure software development practices.
• Experience with Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, and cloud-native development.

Responsibilities

• Translate product and system requirements into complete, unambiguous, and testable software requirements and maintain traceability.
• Partner with a fellow architect to define and evolve the software architecture for our .NET application platform and select cost-effective solutions.
• Produce and maintain requirements and architecture deliverables such as SRS, architecture/design docs, interfaces.
• Design, develop, test, and deliver production software against defined requirements and architecture.
• Lead technical feasibility analyses to inform requirements, architecture, and roadmap decisions.
• Establish and uphold architectural standards, patterns, and engineering practices; review designs.
• Mentor engineers in architecture, design, and lifecycle methodologies.
• Influence technical strategy and roadmaps; present architecture and project overviews to leadership.
• Plan and schedule requirements, architecture, and design activities within quality, time, and budget bounds.
