Job summary

SoundCloud seeks a Senior Principal Engineer to architect the next era of Musical Intelligence. You will lead ML strategy for large-scale recommendations, personalization and search, and grow a team of ML engineers and scientists.

Partner with CTO and cross‑functional teams to ship ML‑enabled features at scale. Responsibilities include defining model architectures, feature stores, and deployment pipelines, while mentoring teams and staying ahead of industry trends.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in ML engineering with leadership roles.
• 3+ years in search or recommendations at internet scale.
• Roadmapping, influencing priorities at organizational level.
• Leading and scaling ML engineers and scientists.
• Hands-on with ML frameworks and data pipelines in cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy and execution for ML systems including recommendations and ranking.
• Explore advanced modeling techniques: LLMs, transformers, multi-modal embeddings.
• Define architecture, feature engineering, training and serving at scale.
• Own short- and long-term ML objectives delivering measurable impact.
• Mentor ML engineers and scientists; collaborate with CTO and cross-functional teams.
• Drive ML Everywhere strategy across creator and fan surfaces.
