Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer (Level 4) for our Promontory, Utah facility. This on-site role focuses on designing and managing capital upgrades for facilities mechanical systems, including piping, heat transfer, and equipment such as pumps and boilers.

The ideal candidate has a STEM degree with 8+ years in facilities engineering, AutoCAD proficiency, and the ability to obtain US government clearance. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 8 years of Facilities Engineering related experience.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• Industrial mechanical design and process equipment experience.
• AutoCAD drafting ability.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering design to support the Facilities Mechanical Engineering Department.
• Manage projects and coordinate all procurements and installation to meet cost and schedule requirements for capital upgrades.
• Design mechanical piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for plant systems.
• Prepare design calculations and specifications for major plant equipment.
• Prepare mechanical engineering designs including layout and sketches.
• Check design deliverables per codes and standards.
• Develop schedules, work assignments and staffing to ensure project completion.
• Coordinate with other engineers and craftspeople and review progress.
• Provide detailed cost estimates for project design and implementation.
• Review drawings for manufacturability and functionality.
• Troubleshoot industrial mechanical equipment and provide field support.
