Job summary
Northrop Grumman in Redondo Beach, CA is seeking Principal/Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our mission-driven team. You will administer and harden Linux-based lab and development environments, assist with build systems, and collaborate with engineers on OS-related issues to keep programs on schedule.
The role requires a Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field with relevant Linux experience and the ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance; relocation assistance may be available
Qualifications
- Strong Linux system administration experience (Red Hat or equivalent).
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux OS, software, and servers.
- Experience diagnosing OS, network, and hardware issues.
- Experience OS-level package management and kernel/driver tuning.
- Shell scripting for automation and maintenance tasks.
- Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Linux-based lab and development environments.
- Load, customize, and harden Linux workstations and servers for security and performance.
- Troubleshoot hardware problems and coordinate repairs.
- Respond quickly to high-priority incidents and restore services.
- Collaborate with software engineers to support build environments and OS issues.
- Document configurations and maintain lab inventories.
