Job summary

Eli Lilly and Company in Houston seeks an experienced HSE professional to support a new manufacturing site. You will oversee contractor safety management, risk assessments, and field-based compliance with CSMP.

This role transitions to site HSE operations after construction. The candidate will lead safety programs for hazardous operations, coordinate with Global HSE, and drive incident investigations and continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical field
• Minimum 5 years of HSE experience, including at least 5 years governing construction under 29 CFR 1926
• Direct experience supporting contractor safety management programs and/or permit‑to‑work (PTW) systems
• Experience with OSHA regulations, risk management practices, and safe work permitting requirements
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements and company standards into practical, field‑executable procedures
• Experience supporting contractor lifecycle processes (prequalification, onboarding, field oversight, performance evaluation)
• Physical capability to navigate diverse construction environments, including bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted

Responsibilities

• Support the management of GFD’s Contractor Safety Management Program (CSMP)
• Coach project teams in complying with CSMP and align safety orientation with standards
• Manage relationships with Safety Advisors and partners
• Ensure environmental requirements and permits comply with local regulations
• Lead investigations and root cause analyses of incidents
• Develop leading and lagging indicators and analytics for projects
• Apply safety processes for Hazard Recognition, CSE, HWP, LOTO, STOP, etc.
• Work with Global HSE to align with corporate priorities and GFD requirements
