Job summary

Air Products is seeking ambitious Principal and Senior Principal Electrical Engineers to lead electrical scope across a diverse project portfolio in the Americas. You will mentor junior team members and collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery, with 20% domestic travel.

Ideal candidates hold an Electrical Engineering degree with PE status (or pursuing) and have hands-on experience with large motors, switchgear, transformers, and power electronics.

Qualifications

  • Electrical engineering degree required; PE status or pursuing PE status.
  • Proven experience in electrical power engineering within process design.
  • Experience with large motors (1–10MW) and additional 10MW+ is a plus.
  • Experience in specification and procurement of low/medium/high voltage switchgear, transformers, and power electronics.
  • Proficient in power systems analysis software (SKM Powertools or ETAP).
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical scope of work on projects across the Americas region.
  • Assign tasks to electrical design teams, supervise and ensure on-time, quality delivery.
  • Provide input for Air Products’ electrical design standards.
  • Liaise with suppliers and outsourcing partners to add project value.
  • Define execution models for electrical engineering scope and improve processes.

Roles / Responsibilities
  • Leading the electrical scope of work on a range of proposals and projects implemented in the Americas region.
  • Assigning tasks to the electrical design teams, providing supervision and technical expertise to ensure delivery against time and quality constraints.
  • Providing technical input for the ongoing development of Air Products’ electrical design standards.
  • Liaising with existing suppliers and outsourcing partners, seeking additional partners to add value to AP and customer projects.
  • Defining execution models for electrical engineering scope, monitoring performance and developing improved processes where appropriate.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • An Electrical Engineering degree plus PE status, or actively pursuing PE status.
  • Proven experience in electrical power engineering in a design function within the process design industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of large motors (induction and synchronous) in the range of1‑10MW.
  • Experience with larger motors (10MW+) will be a plus.
  • Experience in specification and procurement of low, medium and high voltage switchgear, power transformers and power electronics (LCI's, VSD's and Thyristor Controllers).
  • An ability to work with software packages for analysis of power systems (e.g. SKM Powertools or ETAP).
  • A dedicated and driven approach&be committed to getting it right with a never‑ending desire to learn, improve and contribute.
  • Experience leading cross functional teams.
