Job summary

Air Products is seeking a residence-based Electrical Engineer to support reliable operation of Industrial Electrical Equipment in North America. You will advise field personnel on high voltage distribution, monitor equipment performance, and coordinate repairs with vendors.<\/p>

The role requires 6–8 years in industrial electrical work, strong relay programming skills, and adherence to safety standards. Preference for Baton Rouge, LA or Allentown, PA residents.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent working experience.
  • 6 to 8 years of experience as a qualified electrical worker in an industrial facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to field personnel in high voltage distribution equipment and high voltage motors/generators.
  • Respond and provide technical assistance to electrical equipment problems within company-owned facilities.
  • Direct and coordinate vendor shop repairs on high voltage motors and other equipment for quality assurance.
  • Issue repair reports upon completion of critical jobs for historical documentation.
  • Identify engineered solutions to recurring electrical issues.
  • Improve plant/equipment reliability through historical trending and improved maintenance procedures.
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Execute equipment maintenance strategies (predictive and preventive).
  • Review and approve engineering documents on plant upgrade projects.
  • Provide training and mentoring of electrical field technicians and operations staff.

This position will support the reliable operations of our Industrial Electrical Equipment in our Company-owned and operated facilities in North America. This key role will report to our Manager of Electrical Engineering at our Global Headquarters in Allentown, PA. It is a residence-based position within the United States. While candidates may be located anywhere within the assigned territory, our preference is to hire someone based in Baton Rouge, LA or Allentown, PA.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to field personnel in the areas of high voltage distribution equipment and high voltage motors/generators.
  • Respond and provide technical assistance to electrical equipment problems within the company-owned facilities.
  • Direct and coordinate vendor shop repairs on high voltage motors and other equipment for quality assurance.
  • Issue repair reports at the conclusion of critical jobs for accurate historical documentation.
  • Identify engineered solutions to recurring electrical issues.
  • Improve plant/equipment reliability through historical trending and improved maintenance procedures.
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Execute equipment maintenance strategies (predictive and preventive).
  • Ensure adherence to internal and national standards when specifying and maintaining equipment.
  • Review and approve engineering documents on plant upgrade projects.
  • Support training, coaching, and mentoring of electrical field technicians and operations staff in the safe operation and preventative maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
  • 100 % compliance with Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Program protective relays with settings developed in systems analysis software.
Qualifications
  • Experience in operations and maintenance of large industrial plants is required.
  • Proficiency in programming and bringing together event information from protective relays is required.
  • Main vendors in use are SEL and GE Multilin Proven understanding of SKM Power Tools for Windows engineering software is helpful.
  • Experience in other software modeling packages such as ETAP will be considered.
  • Proficiency in crafting safe work permits and HV Lock-out/Tag-out orders is required.
  • Experience specifying, reviewing, and approving HV substation equipment, transformers, HV and LV motors and Generators, Motor control centers, Variable frequency drives, Station Battery, and UPS systems is helpful.
Minimum Hiring Requirements
  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent working experience
  • 6 to 8 years of experience as a qualified electrical worker in an industrial facility.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship (e.g. temporary work visa or work permit).
