Job summary

TCS Inc in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Principal DevSecOps Engineer to support the GMD program. The role requires an active DoD Secret or higher clearance and hands-on experience with cloud, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

On-site in Huntsville, you will work with Linux/Windows environments and secure DoD networks. You will develop and sustain cybersecurity technologies, lead DevSecOps practices, review code, and document procedures for a large government system.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in DevSecOps or cybersecurity engineering for DoD-level systems.
• Active DoD Secret clearance or higher required.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and hybrid environments.
• Proficiency in CICD pipelines, automation, and IaC.
• Strong programming/scripting in Java, Python, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deliver, and sustain cybersecurity technologies for the GMD system.
• Lead DevSecOps practices, code reviews, automated testing, and documentation.
• Operate in Linux and Windows environments, including air-gapped networks.
• Specify and implement security configurations in cloud networks and on Kubernetes.
• Brief government customers and provide technical leadership on integrations.

Job Description TCS is searching for a Senior Principal DevSecOps Engineer to join our strong team supporting our Ground based Midcourse Defense GMD customer in Huntsville AL The GMD program is a portion of the Missile Defense Agencys MDA system to protect the US and our allies from ballistic missile attack The selected candidate will use modern development automation and management tools to work in both Linux and Windows environments in legacy and cloud environments

Responsibilities

• Design develop deliver and sustain new and existing cybersecurity technologies in support of further development of the GMD weapon systemCreate modify and document all enhancements efforts to include system design documents standard operating procedures operations and maintenance manualsprocedures software development plans and related documentationProgram design coding testing debugging and documentationRecommend and utilize the appropriate programming language for each component or workload based upon performance requirements supportability integration with existing components maintainability and other selection criteria deemed applicableReview current systems and analyze business functions or processes to understand the needs for which applications are being designedRecommend system capabilities and objectives for assigned projectsConduct quality assurance reviewsDevelop all components and services using industry best practices such as test driven development centralized source code management code reviews and automated testingUtilize continuous integration continuous deployment CICD workflows to the maximum extent possible for all published componentsProduce DevOps best practice templates to enable rapid implementation of DevSecOps development workflowsProvide subject matter expertise during the review of potential technologies proposed for integration with the environmentFully document development efforts using a combination of code comments project issue tracking change requests and formal documentationEnsure that software deployments minimally impact production workloads running in production environmentsPerform analysis and tests as needed to aid the design process and to document the end item business functionality and system performance requirementsIdentify emerging technologies alternatives and standards implementations such as machine learning ML and artificial intelligence AI to provide better support for developers and application stakeholders

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in computer science information systems Cybersecurity or a related field with 8 years of experience; OR Masters degree with 6 years of related experience or 4 years with a PhD Must have a DOD 8140 IAT Level II certification ex Security CE or CISSPStrong systems administrator experience specifically in WindowsLinux Operating Systems environmentsExperience working with cloud technologies and platforms such as Microsoft Azure Amazon Web Services AWS and Google CloudProficiency with DevSecOps practices approaches requirements and iteration plans for a largescale classified government systemProficiency in Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and servicesProficiency with Atlassian JIRA Confluence GitLabGitHub Jenkins and Nexus repositoriesExperience working with airgap environments classified cloud environments and government customer networksExperience with ATOs cyber security concepts and posture and complex implementation of security configurations in cloud networksExperience with security coding standard best practices static and dynamic scanning tools ie SonarQube Fortify CoverityExperience and skills in agile software principles particularly regarding building a plan or roadmap for multiyear program productProficiency with configuring and maintaining DevSecOps Continuous IntegrationContinuousDeployment CICD pipeline tools including best practices automated builds and tests quality gates software quality and CI tools ie JenkinsProficiency with deploying and maintaining applications on Kubernetes clustersProficiency in briefing technical presentations to a government customerExperience leading complex diagnostics and implementation to quickly address issues and minimize impact to technical programsExperience with reverse engineering and troubleshooting of complex network architecturesAbility to write and review software code Java Python etcCurrent US Citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance or higherMust be able to support an in person closed area work environment 100 of the time
