Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr Principal DevOps Engineer to join our Space Sector in Aurora, CO or Fairfax, VA to support on-prem mission systems. You will operate and maintain CI/CD pipelines, manage Nexus repositories, and oversee Kubernetes clusters with a focus on reliability and security.

The role requires extensive experience with on-prem DevOps tooling, incident response, and collaboration with engineering teams to implement improvements within strict compliance frameworks. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in STEM with 8+ years of experience or Master’s with 6+ years; PhD with 3+ years acceptable.
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance with SCI ability is required.
• Experience maintaining GitLab CI/CD in on-prem environments and Nexus repositories.
• Proficient with Kubernetes on-prem, NiFi, Grafana, and Prometheus in secure contexts.
• Scripting skills in Bash or Python for automation and operational tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain existing GitLab CI/CD infrastructure, patches, and access controls.
• Administer Nexus repositories, backups, access management, and health checks.
• Maintain NiFi infrastructure, performance tuning, and changes per senior engineers.
• Support on-prem Kubernetes clusters: patching, deployments, rollouts, and configs.
• Enhance monitoring with Grafana and Prometheus; refine dashboards and alerts.
• Implement improvements to DevOps tooling and workflows with security baselines.
• Handle incident response for builds, deployments, and runtime issues across CI/CD and on-prem services.
• Follow change management, document changes, and update runbooks and SOPs.
