Job summary

Bloom Energy is seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer - CFD/Thermal to join the Development Engineering team in San Jose, CA. You will lead CFD/thermal studies for energy server enclosures and site installations, guiding thermal management from concept to production.

You will mentor junior engineers, ensure accurate predictions, and expand CFD capabilities with new models and methods. Strong communication skills and hands-on CFD expertise are required.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering.
• 8+ years of industry CFD experience in Thermal management, electronics/data center cooling.
• Strong fundamentals in Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer; able to provide quick, accurate predictions and hand calculations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct CFD/Thermal studies for Energy server enclosures and site installations.
• Provide regular guidance on enclosure thermal management for product development, from concept to production.
• Work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely guidance with accurate predictions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including feasibility studies.
• Report and present results/recommendations across Bloom and customers as needed.
• Provide guidance on flow/thermal tests and field data collection for validation and performance characterization.
• Expand CFD capabilities with new model developments and model improvements.
