Job summary

Bloom Energy is seeking a Principal Engineer - CFD/Thermal to drive advanced thermal management for energy server enclosures. The role requires leading CFD studies, mentoring engineers, and delivering precise predictions to support product development from concept to production.

Based onsite in San Jose, CA, you will collaborate across teams, present results to diverse stakeholders, and expand CFD capabilities to improve reliability and performance in demanding data-center environments.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering.
• Deep understanding of Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer and CFD.
• 8+ years of industry CFD experience in Thermal management for electronics/data-center cooling.
• Proficiency in CFD tools: ANSYS Icepak, Fluent or Flotherm.
• Ability to perform hand calculations from first principles for quick predictions.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on time.
• Mentor junior team members and communicate findings clearly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct CFD/Thermal studies for energy server enclosures and site installations.
• Provide guidance on enclosure thermal management for product development from concept to production.
• Work in a fast-paced environment, delivering timely predictions and insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including feasibility studies.
• Report and present results and recommendations to Bloom Energy groups and customers as needed.
• Guide on flow/thermal tests and field data collection for validation and performance characterization.
• Expand CFD capabilities with new model developments and improvements.
