Job summary

Oracle is seeking a Senior Principal Applied Scientist to drive AI-enabled platform capabilities for scientific and data-intensive enterprise use cases. You will lead research and development, partner with product management and customers, and translate scientific knowledge into scalable cloud solutions.

You will mentor teams, influence architecture and product strategy, and help deliver high-impact, production-grade services across OCI.

Qualifications

• PhD in molecular biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, computer science, data science, or related quantitative field; or Master’s with 8+ years industry or research experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in an applied natural-science domain (e.g., molecular biology, genomics, bioinformatics, life sciences) and ability to translate science into enterprise AI solutions.
• Significant hands-on experience applying data science, ML/AI, data engineering, or analytics to real-world problems.
• Proven ability to lead complex R&D initiatives from problem definition through delivery.
• Experience working in an iterative, customer-driven environment with changing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead research, experimentation, and applied development for AI-enabled scientific-data and enterprise platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with product managers and strategic customers to understand workflows, data challenges, and evolving requirements.
• Prototype, evaluate, and refine solutions; make informed tradeoffs when evidence or needs warrant change.
• Develop reusable, configurable OCI platform services and customer-focused capabilities.
• Mentor applied scientists and engineers; communicate findings, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
