Job summary

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) seeks a Senior Principal Applied Scientist to develop AI-enabled platform capabilities for scientific and data-intensive enterprise use cases. You will lead research and applied development, work with product managers, customers, and engineers to define problems, prototype solutions, and translate insights into scalable OCI services.

You will mentor other scientists and engineers, shape architectural direction, and drive rigorous evaluation and production

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s with extensive experience in applied natural sciences.
• Hands-on experience applying data science, ML, AI integration to real-world problems.
• Proven ability to lead complex R&D initiatives from problem to delivery.
• Experience in iterative, customer-driven environments with evolving requirements.
• Strong knowledge of experimental design, statistics, data quality, and model validation.
• Proficiency with Python and common scientific/data-science libraries and tooling.
• Ability to work across product management, engineering, science, and customer teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead research, experimentation, and applied development for AI-enabled platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with product managers and strategic customers to understand workflows and data challenges.
• Prototype, evaluate, and refine solutions with evidence-based tradeoffs.
• Develop customer-focused capabilities with reusable OCI platform services.
• Mentor applied scientists and engineers; elevate scientific rigor and execution.
• Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
