Job summary

OHSU is seeking an hourly Laboratory/Research Assistant to support non-human primate research in immunology, infectious diseases, and related fields. The role involves coordinating procedures, assisting with necropsies, tissue processing, and regulatory documentation under the supervision of senior investigators.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience, strong data management skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in relevant field and 1 year of relevant experience OR equivalent
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats using scientific terminology
• Ability to work independently and in small groups
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word
• Detailed record keeping and data analysis skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with specialized projects across multiple research groups to organize and schedule procedures
• Coordinate and execute ABSL2+ and ABSL3 level work with non-human primates
• Maintain protocols for SPF colonies
• Perform antibody infusions, drug infusions, hematology, and cell transfers in non-human primates
• Provide training and oversight of staff for projects and procedures
• Prepare reports and regulatory documentation as appropriate
• Assist with acquiring CT images in non-human primates
• Communicate with veterinarians and PIs about immunosuppressed macaques
• Administer therapies and medications to non-human primates
• Maintain regulatory compliance with USDA, OLAW, AAALAC
