Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a cost estimator to quantify labor and material costs for manufacturing and engineering against RFP data. You will analyze specifications, gather data from stakeholders, and develop cost models and reports for management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators, customer representatives, price auditors, vendors, and subcontractors.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree and extensive costing experience, with the ability to prepare

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of progressive professional and/or supervisory experience.
• Master’s Degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
• Equivalent qualifications listed in the posting may meet minimums.

Responsibilities

• Estimates labor and material costs of manufacturing and engineering based on RFP data.
• Analyzes specifications, blueprints, and BOMs to calculate production costs.
• Collects cost data from functional reps, subcontractors and vendors.
• Prepares cost reports and presents findings to management and customers.
