Job summary

Zoic Studios is seeking a Senior Previs Artist to help shape shot concepts and visual language for TV/film. You will collaborate with directors and camera teams to design sequences in Maya and craft camera motion, lighting, and rough animation to convey story intent.

You will source assets, build rough models, manage previs depots, and contribute to pipeline improvements while delivering at a fast TV timeline pace.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Previs, Layout, or Animation in VFX for film/TV.
• Recent demo reel showcasing your previs work.
• Strong ability to interpret story through scripts/storyboards/kickoffs.
• Deep knowledge of Maya - animation, mocap, modeling, lighting in Viewport 2.0.
• Familiarity with camera lensing, bodies and formats.
• Basic editing skills in Hiero, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere, or After Effects.
• Experience with Shotgun/Flow Tracker and Windows.
• Experience with Unreal Engine, Houdini, and Nuke is a plus.
• Ability to learn and contribute to existing pipelines.
• Strong verbal communication; well organized and adaptable.

Responsibilities

• Design shots and sequences in 3D (Maya) based on scripts or boards.
• Apply camera composition and lensing to drive animation.
• Source assets and build rough models/rigs/shaders when needed.
• Help manage previs asset depots and update assets.
• Roughly animate objects, characters, and elements to tell the story.
• Use lighting and atmospheric effects to establish mood.
• Edit previs shots into sequences with pacing and timing.
• Work within pipelines for easy production conversion.
• Create tech-vis setups for on-set teams (lens, height, tilt, distance).
• Collaborate with Layout Artist tasks when demanded (tracking, framing).
